The Producers & The Family Stone
Did you know that Matthew Broderick sings?
(Note: Matthew Broderick is the same guy who actedd in The Stepford Wives, Inspector Gadget, and was the voice of adult Simba).
I just know that over the weekend! Haha!
Anyway, he was in this broadway musical called The Producers in 2001 alongside with Nathan Lane (the same guy who was Timon in The Lion King). And it is funny to imagine adult Simba and Timon (sans Pumba) being in broadway acting like snivelling businesspeople trying to rip people off.

There's a movie version of the show coming out next month (in the States), with Uma Thurman playing Ulla ("Bialystock & Bloom!"), and Will Ferrell as Franz Liebkind. Roger Bart continues to play his role as Carmen (and I can't wait to see that!).

I've also heard snippets of the soundtrack (the original broadway soundtrack), and it is funny. I can imagine the whole play in mind already. Can you imagine the whole play being really chirpy and gay, and everyone's singing "Springtime for Hitler and Germany/Deutschland is happy and gay!/We're marching to a faster pace/Look out, here comes the master race!". It also gets touchy towards the end when both protagonists come to realize that they really are more than business partners in the process (but they are NOT gay!). Half the lyrics sare blasphemous and rude, but funny still. Isn't Mel Brooks a Jew?
Anyhow, I'm going to watch out for this show. And I can't wait to see Matthew B. sing. And imagine the whole "Lion King" thing going on in my head.
Meantime, God kept His promise by giving me 14 hours of sleep last night. From 5pm till 6:30pm. =) Feeling much much better now, after the whole myriad of deadlines last week. Very happy!
"Hiel Hitler!" Funny, that.
Oh, and another movie to catch... a star-studded cast, nonetheless. But I think it has the potential to reflect the conflict between a family and its new addition - an in-law:

I probably would've thought this was another "Meet the Parents", "Guess Who", "Monster-In-Law", or something else. Not quite "Meet the Fockers", but you get my drift. Stars Rachel McAdams (she's probably the reason why I wanna go see this show), Sarah Jessica Parker (did you know she's married to Matthew Broderick? What a small world!), Dermont Mulroney, Luke Wilson, Craig T. Nelson (the same guy who did Bob Parr on "The Incredibles", Clair Danes (she's prettier here than her "Romeo + Juliet" days), and Diana Keaton.
This must be quite a year for me, since I've never paid this much attention to the movies before!
